I'm so glad I found this article. My allergy problems have only been getting worse and worse. At first I thought it was the outside/season changing, but now I'm very aware of my surroundings inside, as it has been extremely necessary. In regards to this section:

"Stuffed anything (even Teddy)

Dust mites living in mattresses, plush toys, and pillows are a huge allergy trigger. Roughly 15 percent of the population is allergic to these microscopic bugs. Encasing mattresses and pillows with impenetrable covers and cases is a useful step but it’s not enough. The mites also love kids’ favorite furry toys."

I've been researching this quite a bit and there are so many toxins and unnatural products in standard mattress it's appalling. I have no doubt they are a large contributor to my allergy problem. Instead of casing everything, I would suggest purchasing an organic mattress. They are free of chemicals and hypoallergenic.
